Exciting Networking Opportunities for Communications Staffers
If you’re an organizer, communications staffer or student interested in journalism, there are several convenings of journalists that you should put on your radar. Major associations for journalists of color will hold their annual conventions this summer. These events are fantastic networking opportunities, and many are open to public relations professionals and organizers. Learn more below:
- The National Newspaper Publishers’ Association (NNPA) will host their signature convention June 19-21 in Baltimore, Maryland. The NNPA is the professional association for Black publishers across the country. You may learn more about the convention, and other events here: https://www.nnpa-events.com/. - The National Association of Hispanic Journalists will celebrate their 40th year anniversary this year. The NAHJ is the leading association for Latinos in media. - The National Association of Black Journalists (NABJ) will convene July 31 through Aug. 4 in Chicago, Illinois. The NABJ is the largest association of Black journalists in the country. - The Native American Journalists Association convening is typically in August, though the organization has not released dates for their upcoming conference. You can check this website throughout the spring to learn more: https://najanewsroom.com/events/.
