
- Is your story the first, the biggest, the best, etc.? Does it break the mold and if so, how?
- Is your story idea or concept newsworthy?
- Is your story idea or concept presently in the news, meaning reporters might want to cover it?
- Are you offering a different spin on a pre-existing story? Are you telling journalists and their audience something they don’t already know?
If you are unable to credibly answer yes to these questions, you may not have a newsworthy story. It may not be time to approach the media.
