WATCH: Human and Sex Trafficking Survivors and Advocates Share Their Story
Watch this touching podcast segment and then take action to help.
Since 2019, Spotlight PR LLC founder Jennifer R. Farmer has hosted a podcast for United Women in Faith, formerly United Methodist Women, titled Faith Talks. The podcast touches on issues of social and racial justice that women of faith are, or should be, organizing around. One such issue is human and sex trafficking.
The U.S. State Department notes that there are 27.6 million victims of human trafficking worldwide at any given time. It is happening under our noses, with people of all ages, all backgrounds, and all nationalities being vulnerable to trafficking. This is not an issue that most people want to engage; it’s painful, it’s triggering, and it isn’t perceived to have a quick solution. But with millions of people being harmed by this horrific evil, more people must engage.
That’s why on June 6, United Women in Faith premiered “Human and Sex Trafficking: Advocates and Survivors Share Their Story” for the Faith Talks community. The segment was produced by United Women in Faith and Spotlight PR LLC. It featured Hannah Estabrook, Sanctuary Night; Vanessa Perkins, Freedom a la Cart; and Mike Premo, Community Development for All People. You may view it here.
Prior to watching, you may want to clear the room, especially if there are children around, and prepare your hearts and minds for this discussion. Please don’t feel like you have to watch this from start to finish. You may consume it at your convenience and with your wellbeing in mind.
Finally, if you or someone you know is being trafficked, please dial the human trafficking hotline at 888-373-7888.
